This is the second in an occasional series of publications that documents and extends the programme of Artspace Auckland. This collection of essays and page art relates to the programme presented during the directorship of Emma Bugden (2009-2011).
Volume 2 includes writing by Janine Randerson on the Artspace stairwell work of Jeena Shin; Meredith Johnston on public art practice; Tahi Moore on Jim Allen’s Contact 2011; a reprinting of Guy von Sturmer’s 1976 essay on Jim Allen’s Contact performance trilogy; Jim Barr and Mary Barr on Campbell Patterson’s Lifting my mother for as long as I can videos; Ellen Blumenstein interviewing Alicia Frankovich; and Kristin Wineera interviewing Liz Maw.
This publication also features documentation of Jeena Shin’s Artspace Stairwell Project (2009–2011), Alicia Frankovich’s A Plane for Behavers (2009) and Jim Allen’s Contact 2011, and page art by Richard Maloy, Koki Tanaka, Cao Fei, and by Dave, an inmate from Paremoremo prison, and participant in Daniel Knorr’s Block project
